About Rev. Yolanda Lewis
My Story
A native of Washington, DC, who has resided in Maryland for the past 27 years, Reverend Yolanda Lewis gave her life to Christ in 1992. By 1996, she had an encounter with the Holy Spirit, which changed her walk with Christ from casual to intentional.
Yolanda embraced discipleship at Maranatha Chapel Fellowship, where she received God’s calling on her life and matured in the faith. After exemplifying the gifts of ministering to lost souls, Yolanda was licensed to Evangelize in 2000. As an Evangelist, she was authorized to lead worship services and preach the gospel. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry in 2005 from Maranatha Bible Institute (UCMI). In 2010, Yolanda was licensed as a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and authorized to perform all functions of the church except marriages and funeral services without the oversight of an ordained reverend.
Woven into the fabric of her gifts and talents, ministry is an extension of life. In addition to preaching the Gospel, Yolanda has engaged in various ministries including leading ministerial services during nursing home visits, leading children’s ministry, participating on a pastoral care committee, organizing multiple women’s intercessory prayer teams, teaching seniors’ Bible study, mentoring Moms of Preschoolers (M.O.P.S.), administrative support for churches, and multiple speaking engagements. In each capacity, she took time to encourage Christians that the Lord is able and to remain steadfast in the faith. Yolanda served as the Executive Secretary of the Black Ministers Conference of Montgomery County, MD for two terms, where she remained an active member until 2024. In 2017, Rev. Lewis joined Jerusalem Baptist Church in Poolesville, MD, where she serves as an associate minister, and member of the Christian Education Committee under the leadership of Pastor C. Glenn Taylor. In 2022, Yolanda was ordained into the gospel ministry.
An advocate at heart, Yolanda is a caregiver, a volunteer SCD advocate, active member with her local homeschool co-op, and a certified Mental Health First Aid Responder. She recently completed a degree in American Sign Language and continues education and training to expand the use of her gifts and talents to the Deaf community. Rev. Yolanda believes without a doubt that God uses all our experiences for His glory.
Married to her “covering,” Reverend Nick Lewis for 27 years, together they have four gifts from the Lord: Andrew, Kezia, Stephen, and Jadon. To distinguish between she and her husband, Rev. Lewis has coined, “Rev. Y.” Rev. Y. contributes her success to the Lord operating through many in her life including her parents, siblings, in-laws, mentor, Pastor, and friends who encourage her. By guidance of the Holy Spirit, Reverend Yolanda walks in Jeremiah 1:7-8 “…for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.”
